Tandem Rotor RC Helicopters provide a unique flying experience. Most of them have very limited or no wind resistance and are best for indoor flying. Many have a very detailed scale appearance and are also suitable for display.

The Syma s022 Chinook Tandem Rotor helicopter is very unique, durable, and has excellent detail. It looks great in the air and also on display on your shelf. Its 3ch control system with no gyro is somewhat limiting, and requires constant flight correction, but it can handle a small amount of wind outdoors. It has an unbelievable sound when flying overhead. The 27/49 mhz system is very prone to interferance and can cause the s022 to take off at full throttle.
Note that the newer s022 now has a gyro and 2.4ghz system.
The Syma s026 Chinook is a 3ch infrared operated tandem rotor heli, about 10" long, and a copy of the larger s022. This is an indoor only heli with a range of 10m. Flight times are rather short, and it requires frequent trimming, but the fun factor is very high. The s026, like the larger s022, also looks great in the air or on display. A worthwhile addition if you enjoy and/or collect tandem rotors.

The Blade Tandem Rescue is a super lightweight full 4ch tandem helicopter. The lexan type body is open on the bottom for access to servos, etc. It use a special shape 3.7v 250mah battery. Because of its feather weight it must be flown only indoors. The 4ch control provides a full range of movement and it is quite durable, has sufficent power, flys well and looks great with the brightly colored Canadian Rescue theme. It has a tendency to tip over on landing but adding another rear landing gear to the front reduces this.

Litehawk Duo Tandem
G.T. 9003 Tandem

The tiny Litehawk Duo Tandem is a small 3ch version of the Tandem Rescue. It appears to be well built, rock steady hover, good forward speed, crisp turns, long flight times and no trimming required even as the battery voltage drops. It weighs 34g and looks like the built in battery is 150mah. Very quick, maneuverable and fun to fly, plus excellent detailed Canadian Rescue theme.

The G.T. Model 9003 is similar in size and flight characteristics to the Syma S026, but I think the aluminum fuselage on the 9003 really ups the cool factor.
My impressions:
- very unique and sturdy aluminum body held together with screws
- looks awesome on display
- battery is 3.7V 260mah
- fuselage 6-1/2" long, weight 72g
- strong motors, good lift power, easy to maintain level flight
- requires trimming during flight same as others in this class
- flys similar to other small tandems like the S026
- like most I/R helis, this system does not like direct sunlight (ask me how I know)
- some gear noises are transmitted throught the aluminum (you can hear it in the video below)
- flight time ~4 minutes (similar to what I got with my S026)
In summary - this is great addition to your tandem collection. These small tandems are not as fast as a regular coaxial, but they are more fun and challenging to fly, and definitely more cool.
Tandem fans, this aluminum bodied tandem could really stand out in your collection.
