The Blade MSR was my 2nd fixed pitch heli. This one is another step up from the Solo Pro 260a in terms of speed, maneuverability and handling. The rotor head has a 45 degree offset, rather than a 45 degree flybar, as in the SP 260a (and most other flybarred fp's). This gives it a lot more movement authority, at the expense of some stability.
Specs:
Length - 190mm
Rotor - 180mm dia
Battery - 120mah (stock)
Weight - 28g (incl battery)
I purchased this heli used along with a LP5DSM. The previous owner could not get it to fly. It turned out to be a separated swashplate. The MSR moves very quickly and can handle more wind than the Solo Pro but takes more effort to maintain hover and is more difficult to reign in once it gets moving. This is really good practice before moving up to flybarless helis.
The swashplate can pop apart and cause weird flight behaviour. Snapping it back together, which is tricky, will normally restore flight to normal. After a few pop aparts, it loses precision and must be replaced. The other weak area is the canopy. So keep some of those parts on hand. Because parts come from the LHS they are expensive but for some, more readily available, requiring less spares to be stocked.
